A month near the water was a much-welcomed change of pace. My apartment was next to the beach looking over the Adriatic Sea, and our office was next door. Being two miles from the city center encouraged a more relaxing month spent focused on work and a personal project I assigned to myself. Our daily work breaks would consist of throwing stones into the sea and trying to catch grabs along the shore - I even managed to catch a handful. Croatia is gorgeous, consisting of over 1200 islands and several beautiful national parks. I'd happily return to Croatia any day!

Within its white stone walls and under its courtyards are a cathedral and numerous shops, bars, cafes, hotels and houses.

The land of cheap rakia, relentless chain smoking indoors, and dance floors so full of tables there's no room to actually dance. The most fascinating part of our stay was learning about the recent - and in some cases still persistent - conflict that the region has encountered. Seeing buildings bombed by NATO and hearing stories about how children would sit on rooftops to watch the bombings will stick with me forever.

An amazing little weekend trip for some whitewater rafting and hiking. We stayed in little angular cabins in Bosnia along a river that borders with Montenegro. When we went hiking, we crossed the border to hike to a small lake. When we were rafting, we would cross back and forth between the countries.

I absolutely loved Prague. It's easily among my favorite cities so far this year. I've been thinking about what makes Prague so great, and realized there's no one thing that makes it great. Instead it's a multitude of little things done right that makes this city so beautiful and liveable.
