The land of cheap rakia, relentless chain smoking indoors, and dance floors so full of tables there's no room to actually dance. The most fascinating part of our stay was learning about the recent - and in some cases still persistent - conflict that the region has encountered. Seeing buildings bombed by NATO and hearing stories about how children would sit on rooftops to watch the bombings will stick with me forever.
